It's that time again for an Objects I love post!

I was thinking on some other object for this post but after todays post at {a place for twiggs} I could not contain myself.

I have to share some pictures of my beloved salvaged desk lamp.

It a common story. Someone's trash is someone else's treasure.

This desk lamp had the trash as his destiny but my father got in the way. He was asked by an old lady if he could help carry some of her old things to the trash, and being who he is, he immediatly agreed to help.

In the midst of all he had to carry it was a desk lamp that my father thought could function again. It just needed a new cable. He thought it was cute. After asking the old lady if he could keep it he brought it home to fix it.

As soon as I saw it I knew that I had to have it, but I didn't have to beg for it. My father asked if I wanted it.

Of course I wanted it! Who wouldn't? Look at those lines!

But I didn't have the space for it, for a very long time, on my desk. I had to carfully store it untill the time I could be put it on my desk.

The time arrived, after I got rid of my enormous computer monitor, I finally had space for it.

It is not the ideal space but I could not wait to use it, to admire it!

Isn't it a very different design?

Don't you love it?

It can be shifted to the position you like because it has a screw at base and the lamps hade has a sphere and a screw to help it to the right position.

In spite of the little wear and tear and a little rustiness at the base I think it is in excellent condition and deserves something more that the trash!!

É novamente altura para um post "Objects I love".

Estava a pensar num outro objecto para este post, mas após ver  o post de hoje no {a place for twiggs} não me consegui conter.

Tenho de partilhar convosco algumas imagens do meu adorado e recuperado candeeiro de secretária.

É uma história comum. O lixo de uns é o tesouro de outros.

Este candeeiro tinha como destino o lixo mas no seu caminho encontrou o meu pai. Uma senhora idosa pediu-lhe que a ajudasse a levar algumas coisas velhas para o lixo e sendo o meu pai como é prontamente se predispôs a ajudar.

No meio de tudo o que tinha para levar estava um candeeiro que ele pensou que poderia novamente funcionar. Só precisava de substituir o fio. Pensou que o candeeiro tinha um ar engraçado. Depois de pedir à senhora se podia ficar com ele, trouxe-o para casa para arranjar.

Assim que o vi percebi que o queria ter, mas nem tive que pedir. O meu pai perguntou-me logo se o queria.

Claro que o queria! Quem não quereria? Olhem só para estas linhas!

Mas durante muito tempo não tive espaço na minha secretária para o colocar e por isso tive que o guardar muito cuidadosamente até ao momento em tivesse espaço.

Esse tempo chegou quando me desfiz do enorme monitor do meu computador e finalmente tive espaço para o ter!

Não é o ideal, mas não conseguia esperar mais para o usar e admirar!

O que acham?

Não acham que tem um formato diferente?

Não o adoram?

Pode ser movido para a posição que quiserem devido ao parafuso  que tem na base e o abajur pode ser ajustado devido à esfera e parafuso que tem.

Apesar de algum desgaste e um pouco de ferrugem na base eu acho que está em excelente condição e merece algo melhor do que ir para o lixo!!

Espero que estejam a gostar desta série de posts. Fiquem atentos porque voltarei dentro de 2 semanas aproximadamente com novo post da série.

I thought it would be great to share with you some objects I love, their stories with me and the artists who made them.

This will be a post that will be a feature of the blog every other Friday. I'll show you something that I love, why and the story behind it.

My first post is about a ring. A ring that I had my eye on for a very long time, when I say a long time it really was a long time, it was months before I finally gave in and bought it!

It's the Spotted Silver Ring by Allison Fomich of Etsy Shop tigerlillyshop.

First of all let me tell you that although I love rings, since the usual size rings don't fit my fingers, I don't have that many.

I already was a customer of tigerlillyshop before I ever started to ogle the ring. I have other pieces of jewelry by her, two Butterfly Wing necklaces. Well, I had to have a copper and a silver one! What can I say? When I like a design I really like it!

The great thing was that this ring was already in the right size for me, without having to ask to have it custom made!

How unusual!

The ring had an oxidized patina that after three years of wear has almost disappeared. Well, it was not just the three years of wear, it was also the cleaning fluid that we had to use at work during the swine flu pandemic. I didn't notice at first and when I did it was already too late, the patina was almost gone! :(

But it's alright, I still love it as it is.

This ring has made me a ring wearer, I miss it when I leave home without it!

As all designs by Allison it's very much fluid, organic and inspired by nature. The hammered effects are what gives this ring band its character. It also has another thing that is very unusual, a tapered effect that makes it very confortable to wear, the most confortable that I ever tryed on.

I think that her pieces show her scuplture background and I'm still in love with several of them.

Olá a todos! 

Pensei que seria óptimo partilhar convosco alguns objectos que adoro, as suas histórias comigo e os artistas que os fizeram. 

Este será um post que será um elemento neste blog sexta-feira sim, sexta-feira não. Vou-vos mostrar algo que adoro, porquê e a história por trás dele. 

O primeiro post é sobre um anel. Um anel que chamou a minha atenção por um longo tempo, quando eu digo longo tempo é porque que realmente foi um longo tempo, passaram meses antes de eu finalmente ceder e compra-lo! 

É o Spotted Silver Ring  pela Allison Fomich da loja na Etsy tigerlillyshop.

Antes de mais deixem-me dizer-vos que, embora adore anéis, uma vez que os anéis de tamanho usual não me servem, eu não tenho muitos. 

Já era cliente da tigerlillyshop antes de começar a cobiçar o anel. Tenho outras peças dela, dois colares Butterfly Wing. Bem, eu tinha que ter um de cobre e uma de prata, como poderia escolher? O que posso dizer? Quando gosto de um design, eu realmente gosto! 

O melhor é que este anel já tinha o tamanho certo para mim, sem ter que pedir para ser feito sob encomenda! 

Que incomum! 

O anel tinha uma pátina oxidada que, após três anos de uso, quase desapareceu. Bem, não foram apenas os três anos de uso, também foi o líquido de limpeza das mãos que nós tivemos que usar no trabalho durante a pandemia de gripe suína. Em principio não notei o que estava a acontecer, quando dei conta já era tarde demais, a pátina quase desapareceu! : ( 

Mas tudo bem, eu ainda adoro anel como ele é. 

Este anel fez de mim uma pessoa que usa anéis diariamente, sinto falta dele quando saio de casa sem ele!

Como todos as peças da Allison é muito fluido, orgânico e inspirado na natureza. Os efeitos martelados são o que dá esta tira de metal o seu carácter. Tem também outra coisa que é muito incomum, um efeito cônico que a torna muito confortável de usar, o mais confortável que eu já usei.

Acho que suas peças mostram a sua formação em escultura e ainda estou apaixonada por várias das suas peças.
